SNSD’s Taeyeon Mistakenly Listed in Local Festival Lineup—Name Confusion Causes Stir

On July 14, an image circulated in online communities showing Taeyeon listed among the performers for Jangsu Hanwoo and Apple Festival, which is scheduled to take place from September 18 to 21 in the Uiam Park area of Jangsu-eup. Fans were quick to express excitement over what seemed to be a rare appearance by the superstar at a local event.

However, as Xports News later confirmed, the Taeyeon listed is not SNSD’s Taeyeon, but trot singer Kim Taeyeon, who shares the same name. A festival representative acknowledged the error, explaining it was a mistake made during poster production, but this turned out to be untrue.

A Jangsu County official clarified, “We will redesign the poster. We are currently searching for another artist to replace Taeyeon. The claim that we confused her with the trot singer is incorrect, and we are in contact with the media outlet that reported it to issue a correction.”

A representative from Jangsu County also explained, “We received notice from the event planning agency that Taeyeon’s appearance had been confirmed, so we included her name on the poster. But on the 14th, we were informed that the booking had fallen through.”

SM Entertainment also issued a firm statement: “Taeyeon is not scheduled to perform at the Jangsu Festival. She was never approached for the event. We hope fans are not misled by this misinformation.”
